چکیده

The theory of Hausdorff dimension provides a general notion of the size of a set in a metric space. We define Hausdorff measure and dimension, enumerate some techniques for computing Hausdorff dimension, and provide applications to self-similar sets and Brownian motion. Our approach follows that of Stein [4] and Peres [3].

Variational dimension of random sequences and its application

A concept of variational dimension is introduced for a random sequence with stationary increments. In Gaussian case the variational dimension in the limit coincides with the Hausdorff dimension of a proper random process. Applications of the concept are illustrated by examples of neurological data and network traffic analysis.

Bounded Geodesics of Riemann Surfaces and Hyperbolic Manifolds

We study the set of bounded geodesies of hyperbolic manifolds. For general Riemann surfaces and for hyperbolic manifolds with some finiteness assumption on their geometry we determine its Hausdorff dimension. Some applications to diophantine approximation are included.

On the Hausdorff dimension of the Mather quotient

Under appropriate assumptions on the dimension of the ambient manifold and the regularity of the Hamiltonian, we show that the Mather quotient is small in term of Hausdorff dimension. Then, we present applications in dynamics.

Effective Strong Dimension with Applications to Information and Complexity

The two most important notions of fractal dimension are Hausdorff dimension, developed by Hausdorff (1919), and packing dimension, developed by Tricot (1982). Both dimensions have the mathematical advantage of being defined from measures, and both have yielded extensive applications in fractal geometry and dynamical systems. Lutz (2000) has recently proven a simple characterization of Hausdorff...
